OCULUS PENTACAM |
| Company: OCULUS
Purpose:
Link: http://www.oculususa.com/prd_comp.php
Principle of Measurement The Pentacam images the anterior segment of the eye by a rotating Scheimpflug camera measurement. This rotating process supplies pictures in three dimensions. The center of the cornea is measured very precisely because of this rotational imaging process. The measurement process lasts less than two seconds and minute eye movements are captured and corrected simultaneously. By measuring 25,000 true elevation points, precise representation, repeatability and analysis are guaranteed. The following information on the eye is captured.
Scheimpflug Image
3-D Chamber Analysis
Corneal Topography
Pachymetry
Cataract Analysis
True Net Power
Keratometric Power Deviation
Tomography
Holladay Report During the last ESCRS in Lisbon Oculus Optikgeräte GmbH presents the “Holladay Report” for the first time. This new program was developed together with Dr. Jack T. Holladay to improve the calculation
of IOLs for patients which have undergone corneal surgery. This problem is well known and several methods have been tried to get proper k-readings for the calculation of the IOL but no method was precise enough. All those methods which have been in use so far are assumptions and approximations. The Pentacam is the first and only machine in the market which delivers the necessary values.

| OCULAR COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY
[OCT] |
| Company:
Zeiss Meditec
Purpose: Cross-Sectional Imaging
of Retina
Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is
a new, noninvasive, noncontact, transpupillary imaging
technology which can image retinal structures in vivo
with a resolution of 10 to 17 microns.
Cross-sectional images of the retina are produced using
the optical backscattering of light in a fashion analogous
to B- scan ultrasonography. The anatomic layers within
the retina can be differentiated and retinal thickness
can be measured. |

IOL MASTER |
Company: Zeiss Meditec
Purpose: Measurements of ocular
parameters used commonly in cataract + refractive surgery
The Zeiss IOL Master is a non-contact
optical device that measures the distance from the corneal
vertex to the retinal pigment epithelium by partial
coherence interferometry, the IOL Master is consistently
accurate to within ±0.02 mm or better.
The IOL Master is the first such device to be widely
used in clinical ophthalmology.
Optical biometry along the visual axis is highly accurate.
Erroneous measurements are virtually eliminated. Exact
measurement of the length of the ocular axis is possible
even with eyes not ideally formed. High ametropia, pupil
size as well as state of accommodation will not affect
the accuracy of measurement. The risk of confusing right
and left eye is excluded. The instrument automatically
detects the right or left eye while taking the measurement.

AUTO REFRACTOR HARK 599 |
Company: Zeiss Meditec
Purpose: Auto refractor/keratometer
The HARK 599 is the first full-featured
combination auto refractor/keratometer
with glare testing. Unlike other instruments,
the HARK allows for immediate patient feedback on the
prescription.
Complete testing - Automatic alignment and tracking
allow the instrument to follow shifts in eye movement
during testing, while speeding up routine examination
time, improving patient comfort level and achieving
highly accurate refractions.
Automatic Keratometric readings In addition to all the
features of the Automatic Refractor, the HARK 599 provides
precise keratometric readings including Delta K's that
are quickly and easily performed for all clinical needs.

HUMPHREY Visual Fields HFA II |
|
Company: Zeiss Meditec
Purpose: Eye diagnostic
The Humphrey Field Analyzer II is the
recognized standard of care for early diagnosis, treatment
and management of diseases resulting in visual field
loss. With over 35,000 HFA systems in use around the
world, the HFA is documented in hundreds of clinical
trials.
Early Glaucoma Detection - Blue-Yellow
perimetry has been shown to provide earlier detection
of glaucomatous visual field loss
Reliable Results - Patented fixation monitoring
features automatically track and align patient head
and eye position, alerting the operator to patient movement
away from the trial lens.
Patients appreciate the ergonomically designed instrument
- that allows for maximum comfort. |

ORBSCAN |
|
Company: Bausch + Lomb
Purpose: Corneal scanning machine used
in pre-operative evaluation for laser eye surgery
Purpose: Corneal scanning machine used
in pre-operative evaluation for laser eye surgery.
The Orbscan is a very special test that
helps the doctors to determine if you are a candidate
for LASIK. It is the only test that can show us the
shape of the posterior surface of your cornea.
"The Orbscan II acquires over 9000
data points in 1.5 seconds to meticulously map the entire
corneal surface (11 mm), and analyze elevation and curvature
measurements on both the anterior and posterior surfaces
of the cornea."
This level of analysis is absolutely impossible for
a doctor to conduct without the Orbscan.
The Orbscan also gives us your corneal
thickness measurement anywhere on your cornea. Corneal
thickness is very important because since we changing
the shape of you cornea by removing tissue we do not
want to make your cornea too thin. The average cornea
is 515 microns thick. Our rule is to not make your cornea
total thickness not thinner than 400 microns or less
than 250 microns under the flap. This is best measured
with the Orbscan. |
