Affordable Diabetic Vision Screening

Updated: Sep 9, 2022

Diagnosed early, you have a good chance to manage or control it well to prevent blindness and other side effects.

Diabetes not only promotes blindness, it is one of the co-morbidities associated with the current pandemic. At the Olympia Eye and Laser Centre we offer an affordable diabetic screening service to combat blindness caused by diabetes.

Diabetes is a chronic health condition that affects how your body turns food into energy. It is increasingly affecting the working population. Untreated diabetes can damage your nerves, eyes, kidneys, and other organs. It can lead to blindness. This chronic condition must therefore be diagnosed early if these negative effects are to be avoided.

Most people are unaware and undiagnosed because diabetic symptoms can be so mild that it may be hard to spot at first. We offer non-invasive screening by means of fundus photography and Artificial Intelligence platform called OXIA, to help doctors diagnose and predict its risk earlier than ever before. For Type 2 diabetes, which is generally associated with lifestyle, the prospect of identifying those at risk much earlier than before is exciting! It may help to motivate people to work towards preventing any sight threatening complications.

All health care practitioners registered with OXIA can make a booking for their patients even on the dame day via the online platform. Once you visit our center for the diabetic screening visit your personal digital wide field retinal image and macula OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) are captured. These images are analysed via a screening software and a diabetic risk report is generated with the assistance of an eye specialist. Once the report is finalized it is sent to the referring health care provider and the patient with a detailed risk report identifying, managing and ongoingly monitoring their vision.

Additional to diabetic screening, all patients are simultaneously screened for Hypertensive Retinopathy, Age-related Macular Degeneration, Cataracts and Glaucoma.

You can make a booking to have your risk assessed today.
