​

Following his qualification as an Ophthalmologist in 1990, Dr Joffe relocated to Namibia and served as Head Ophthalmologist at Windhoek Central Hospital from 1991 to 1995. With the vast experience he gained during this time, he established his own private practice in 1995.

 

His keen interest in IT provided a framework for his pioneering work in the field of refractive surgery. From 1998 to 2000, he traveled with his patients to Cape Town for Excimer laser procedures before performing Namibia’s first such procedures in 2000. Dr Joffe was a keen triathlete, marathon runner & squash player.

 

His dedication to general ophthalmology, and special interest in cataract and refractive work, as well as anterior segment surgery, enables him to offer state of the art procedures, including:

 

  • Premium and multifocal intraocular lens implantation following Femto laser assisted cataract surgery

  • Excimer laser refractive surgery (trans-PRK)

  • Corneal transplants, including the latest in lamellar surgery (DALK & DMEK)

  • Intra-corneal ring segments (ICRS)

  • Phakic intraocular lenses (ICL, ICPL, Artisan/Artiflex)

  • Modern glaucoma surgery

 

Dr Jonathan Joffe is the founder and visionary behind the Olympia Eye & Laser Centre.

 

Olympia Eye & Laser Centre stands out as a premium eye care center due to its combination of skilled professionals, state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technology, and a commitment to incorporating the latest research into its services, benefiting the Namibian nation.

 

A leader in his field, Dr. Joffe is an active member of several prestigious ophthalmological societies, including OSSA, SASCRS, AAO, ASCRS, and ESCRS.

 

Dr. Joffe expanded his expertise in 2018 with the introduction of the Olympia Aesthetic Centre, offering patients a holistic approach to total body well-being.

Dr Talitha Maritz

Dr. Talitha Maritz

 

Dr. Talitha Maritz qualified as an Ophthalmologist in 1995 and spent two years at RK Khan Hospital in Durban before practicing at the Pretoria Eye Institute from 1997 to 2005.

​

Having completed her internship in Windhoek and worked for four years as a Medical Officer at Windhoek State Hospital, Dr. Maritz developed a deep love for Namibia. In 2005, when the opportunity to join Olympia Eye & Laser Centre arose, she eagerly accepted.

​

With 25 years of experience in private practice as a general Ophthalmologist, her special interests include cataract surgery, oculoplastic surgery, glaucoma management, retinal diseases, and paediatric ophthalmology. Dr. Maritz is a member of the South African Society of Oculoplastic Surgeons (SASOPS) and regularly attends conferences to stay informed on the latest advancements in her fields of interest.

Beyond her professional dedication, Dr. Maritz enjoys playing the flute, exploring the wilderness, and staying active through mountain biking. She has participated in two Nedbank Desert Dash and two Wine to Whales events as part of a team.
